How do I get my son and daughter to behave? What is going on with my husband? Why do we fight all the time? How can I get him to do what I want? Why does my daughter just stay in her room? How can I get my son to talk to me? Why do I feel so alone even when surrounded by a family that I have always longed for?

Raising a family, in all of it’s modern versions, is always a work in progress that moves from chaos to temporary order and back to chaos. Most struggles are based on a collection of underlying principles that mold and determine family and relationship interactions. Don’s work with couples and parents captures those principles, illustrates how to apply them, and opens a fresh door to love and meaning in the relationships that define our personal lives. Inspiring hope and courage, Don helps audience members turn their wishbones into backbones.

Don Elium, MA MFT, and his wife Jeanne, are authors of four best-selling books, Raising a Son, Raising a Daughter, Raising a Teenager, and Raising a Family.

Born and raised in Salisbury, NC, Don moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue his graduate education. He settled in Walnut Creek, CA, where he has maintained a full time psychotherapy practice for over fifteen years, working with individual adults, couples, and teenagers.

He is an adjunct professor at John F. Kennedy University in the Counseling Psychology Graduate Program teaching “Gender and Sexuality”. He is a professional speaker and trainer, often appears on radio and television, and is quoted in national magazines and newspapers. He and Jeanne, married for over twenty years, are parents and grandparents.

From Don’s professional experiences, real life challenges, victories, and defeats, he creates an inspiring event that teaches audiences how to live in the most precious relationships any of us will ever have--and how to keep them most precious.
