Sarah McLean: Expert Meditation Instructor

Since 1993, Sarah McLean has taught meditation and wellness courses to hundreds of students around the country and has brought meditation and wellness programs into corporate environments.

She began her studies in the field of mind/body health in 1989, when she went to work with Dr. Deepak Chopra. She was employed by him for over eight years, first as a mind/body educator at the Ayurveda Health Center in Lancaster, Massachusetts, and later as one of the founding directors of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, a mind/body health center in Southern California.

As the Program Director at the Chopra Center, Sarah was certified by Dr. Deepak Chopra to teach his programs, among them, Perfect Health - an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Course, and the Primordial Sound Meditation technique.

Sarah studied Ayurveda with Dr. Chopra, Dr. Svoboda, Dr. Douillard, and attended the Ayurvedic College at Mt. Madonna with Dr. Vasant Lad. Ayurveda is a mind/body healing approach which suggests that health and healing begins with awareness, or consciousness, and that meditation is the first step towards bringing balance and wellness in the mind and body.

Sarah also has had the good fortune of working and studying with many popular and progressive best selling authors including Debbie Ford, author of The Secret of the Shadow, and Margot Anand, author of Everyday Ecstasy.

She lived in a Zen Buddhist monastery for two years and taught meditation at health centers in New York City. She later became the personal assistant to Gary Zukav, author of Seat of the Soul, and in 2000, was the Education Director for Byron Katie, the author of Loving What Is.

Sarah lives in Sedona where she continues to teach, write, coach, and work to preserve nature and the environment. She serves on the board of Keep Sedona Beautiful, an organization dedicated to preserving the wonder of Sedona and was the recipient of the Sustainable Arizona Service Leadership Award in 2005.

She is the president of a holistic business consultancy, Illumine Strategies which specializes in bringing meditation into the work environment, and is the director of Sedona Meditation Training Co., which offers personal meditation instruction and meditation renewal retreats throughout Arizona.
