MULTI-TASKING MOM
Teresa Bacal is a mom with a mission – but not a mission that’s impossible. She’s not planning on doing something trivial like fighting off a helicopter from the roof of a speeding train that’s going through a tunnel (sorry, Tom, but mothers do that kind of stuff every other day). No, Teresa’s mission, and that of her partner Loree Bischoff, is to tackle a really serious issue – one that can potentially affect every family, business, and organization across the country. They want to lighten the load on overstressed modern mothers and help them find more balance and joy in their lives.
Teresa found out the hard way that modern women have it tough when trying to balance a career with motherhood. Having carved out a successful career as a marketing director and event planner for a decade and a half, she felt pretty comfortable and in control of her life. Her business success started with a bang; landing her first job as a marketing director while still studying at the University of Minnesota for her degree in marketing and training. Eventually, she took on the ultimate business challenge of co-founding and running her own event planning company, Reaction Management.
But then motherhood was thrown into the mix and, suddenly, Teresa’s life took on a whole new degree of difficulty. During this phase, new skills like advanced juggling and high-level dispute resolution had to be added to her skill-set. But, more seriously, the experience made Teresa acutely aware of the difficulty faced by millions of women trying to combine a career with family commitments. It is possible to do both of them competently, but, as there’s only 24 hours in a day, something has to give, and, in Teresa’s case (and in many others, she suspects), she was forced to forego those extra things in life that bring joy and happiness.
As relocation to a planet with a longer day was not a current option, Teresa realized it was high time she needed to make some radical life changes. One of the first things she did was attend the Anthony Robbins Mastery University® where she learned how to re-ignite her passions in life and redirect her focus on what was important to her. In response to Tony’s metaphorical smack in the face, she sold her portion of Reaction Management in early 2005 and set about finding a career opportunity that not only utilized her entrepreneurial, marketing and event management skills, but also focused on something near and dear to her heart.
Her focus and passion, she decided, would be on helping women avoid the rut that she herself had recently jumped out of. Thus, Motherhood Redefined was created. With this new joint venture, Teresa and her partner Loree would be able to use their varied experiences and skills to help women rediscover some of the things in life that can get lost in the relentless shuffle of motherhood and work responsibilities.
A Minnesota native, Teresa currently lives in Spokane, Washington, where she can now spend quality time with her husband Joe and 7-year-old son, Greyson. She also has more time to enjoy hobbies like golf, traveling, and just taking naps
